Our "Adopted" Family

One of the hardest things about living in Colorado is being so far from all of our family. We miss them so very much and hate knowing that they are not a part of Addison's daily life. However, the Lord has truly blessed us with what we call an "adopted family". One of the greatest things about living here is our church home. Specifically, the people in it. We have grown to love and respect them so much.

On Thursday evenings we are a part of what we call "Home Group" which consists of a small group of people who meet in our pastor's home where we discuss things of the Lord. It is one of our much looked forward to events in our week because of the relationships we have developed. The great thing about our group is how diverse we are. Nick and I, along with another couple are by far the youngest in the group. The oldest couple is in their 60s and we consider them to be such great friends. Some of us are married while others of us are not. A few of us have young children and others have teenagers. Some have never had children and some are already grandparents. However, none of this matters because of the one thing we do have in common: the love for our Lord. Through Him we are a family.

For Home Group tonight we decided to do things a bit differently and meet for pizza prior to our meeting. We had such a blast just spending time together and chatting. Addison is by far the youngest member of our church and the first baby we've seen in many years so she is loved on by many. Our dear friend "Uncle Joe" is always the first to grab her from me so that I can have a chance to eat. He has such a way with her and she has really taken a liking to him as well. It was so much fun watching him feed her tonight while the rest of us ate our dinner. She seemed to be entranced by him! :)At our meetings, I usually do not need to worry about taking care of Addison because someone else is always more than willing to hold her!

The love we feel from this small group is one I can't explain because it comes straight from the Lord. Nick and I have grown so much in Christ since becoming a part of this group. We would not love this area near as much if it weren't for the people in it and for that we are very grateful!

Now, obviously, they will never replace our real families but they definitely do a great job of filling in!

What Addison Wore Wednesday (3/29/11 - 3/30/11)

My mom gave me the idea to take a daily picture of Addison as a way to kind of document her life. Up until lately I have been horrible at doing this and I have made a vow to change that.

So how do I plan on doing this? The other day I stumbled upon a FANTASTIC blog called "Laura Thoughts". If you have never read her blog, then you MUST check it out! Anyway, she has an adorable daughter named Catie and Catie has some of the cutest outfits so instead of posting "What I Wore Wednesday" she posts what she calls "What Catie Wore Wednesday". I thought this was a great idea and a great way to force myself to take a daily picture of Addison.

So without further ado, here is "What Addison Wore Wednesday"!
Now since I just started doing this yesterday, today's post is sadly only going to have 2 pictures from the week.

Tuesday
Puma Onesie: Ross
Pink Fleece Pants: Wal-Mart
Puma Socks: Ross
Wednesday
Dress: The Children's Place
White Onesie: Target
Tights: Target
Bow: Target

So I hope you enjoy the "What Addison Wore Wednesday" posts because you are going to be seeing a lot of them! :) I may even decide a little of what mommy wore as well! We will just have to see how I am feeling. My personal wardrobe is very limited still as I am not quite fitting into all of my pre-pregnancy clothes yet.

Introducing Addison Joy!

As I mentioned in my previous post, I did give birth to our beautiful daughter on January 17, 2011 at 7:43 in the morning! She has brought us so much joy and we couldn't be more proud! Over these past few months we have watched her grow and develop so quickly. I can't believe how much time has flown by! Part of me wishes I could just freeze time and have her stay the way she is but part of me has also loved watching her change and learn new things!

Becoming a mother is not at all what I was expecting, it is so much better. I could literally sit and stare at her all day. The love I feel is so overwhelming. It is nothing I can explain but if you are a mother, you know exactly what I mean. My daily thoughts and conversations are completely altered. I don't find value in the same things. My passions are different. Addison has changed my life and made me a better woman. I feel much more complete.

Here are a couple of videos I made where I talked about her developments.

Back to Blogging

So I apologize for not blogging. After I got pregnant, I was extremely sick and exhausted for quite a while and then never found the energy to actually stare at the computer. Once I had my daughter, I then forgot all about my blog and focused my attention on her. However, as of lately, I've had a strong desire to start blogging again. Maybe it's the amount of admiration I have of my daughter and the joy that I have from her. Who knows. All I know is I want to be able to share my thoughts and passions with those who care. So dear friends and family, here I go again! Let's see how much time I find to do this. Give me a chance to get back into the swing of things because it may take some time to get into the habit again!
