While I'm Waiting

This weekend has been an emotional roller coaster for me. Quite a few things have happened that either lifted my spirits or crushed them into the ground. Having said that, let's move on. :)

I received some tragic news about a dear friend on Thursday and it has really been on my heart. It's so heartbreaking when you have to hear that a loved one is experiencing something devestating, especially at such a young age. Anyway, I will not share details in order to protect her privacy. Those of you who know her, probably already know what I am referring to. All I ask is that you send your thoughts and prayers her way. The Lord will know where they are directed.

Isn't it funny how tragic news can completely belittle every other problem in your life that was once a "BIG" deal. Yeah, that's what I am experiencing. Seriously, it's moments like those that make me realize I can be such a baby. I hate it, but it's true. I'm sure we have all been there. As I glance back over my week I realize that I have made mountains out of mole hills. I am sorry for that.

Here is something else that has been on my heart today. Being a mommy. Oh how I long to be that. It's something I have dreamed about my entire life and never did I imagine it to take this long. Every girl dreams of the day when she will be pregnant but she never imagines the road that it may take to get there. If someone would have told me that I would have to REALLY TRY, I probably would have brushed them off. I had it all planned out. I would get pregnant in the fall so that I would have the summer to recoup and get adjusted to being a mommy. Once I was ready, I would then go back to school. Oh yeah, we were also going to try for a boy first. RIGHT. That was all fine and dandy until the Lord reminded me that He is in control. Isn't it funny how He can quickly change your mind? After a year and some months of trying, we don't care when we get pregnant nor do we care if it's a boy or a girl. I feel stupid for thinking I had it all figured out. SO STUPID! Who am I to decide when it's God's time? Oh how ignorant we can be. Yes I long for the moment when I see that little + and get to share my excitement with the world, however, I don't know when and IF that will happen. All I can do is wait on the Lord and continue to praise Him as I do. Here is a song that has touched me this weekend.

Before I go I want to leave you with this. "Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD." Psalm 27:14

And this:

We know and trust that there will one day be a third little Hargis added to our family. Until then, we plan to live our lives to the fullest and will continue to praise Him! Thank you to all of my caring readers! Each one of you means so much to my husband and me!

Friday Finds!

Happy Friday! It's time for my Friday Finds! It was hard for me to narrow down my choices today. I was inspired by so much this week! Anyway, here is how I categorized it.

1. Sewing/Crafting
I am always on the lookout for an antique sewing machine that is built into a cabinet and I think I may have found one on Craigslist! Wohoo!

This is Flat Emelie and Matt which was designed and created by Angela Yosten. She just posted a tutorial on how she created these over on her blog called Moda Bake Shop. It's definitely worth looking at!

My blogging friend Angie Juda made these this past week and posted an AWESOME video tutorial of how she made it. Check it out!
This is such a green idea! Reusable bowl covers! GENIUS! To learn how to make these, check out the tutorial that I found from Ohdeedoh.I can't wait to make a few of these flower clips! They are so adorable and really don't look that hard to make! :) There is a tutorial for how to make these over on Prudent Baby! Check it out!

Remember I showed you the tissue paper poms last week? Well this week I am showing you some fancy fabric poms!

2. Etsy
Now check out this sweet knitted hat with some felt sewn onto the front of it? Doesn't it just add so much? Check out the Etsy store "NinisHandmades" to see more like this one!

And since I am on a felt kick this week. Check out this super sweet dionosuar from "up to my elbows". There are so many other adorable animals that you can find there too!

This was the first felt object on Etsy that I fell in love with and of course I didn't find it soon enough. It sold out so fast I couldn't believe it! The creator of this little cutie is "MyPaperCrane".

After seeing the cute spool of thread I then decided to see what other felt items I could discover and I quickly discovered that there are many Etsy stores who actually sell PDFs that you can buy to create your very own felt items! WOW! This set of hot drinks is one that blew me away. YOu can buy the PDF for this from "UmeCrafts".

3. Home Decor/Organization

If you have never checked out Knock-Off Wood, you need to! Ana is one talented woman and she has created her own plans that replicate some of the more expensive furniture that you have always wanted to buy but couldn't afford. For example, I fell in love with this Pottery Barn desk a little over a year ago and Ana just posted the plans to make it on your own! SWEET!

I know I mentioned that we are going vintage in our home. Well check this out? How easy would that be to do? Nick and I have been wanting to add lights above our bar and these are PERFECT!

Here is another fantastic mason jar project I found this week! We are using this idea too!

I love this idea. Hopefully the creator posts a tutorial of this so I can add this to my new vintage kitchen! :D

Nick and I have been trying to come up with a cheap, yet pretty way to organize our recyclables so that we are not ashamed to have it in our kitchen. I stumbled upon this idea and we decided to try and use it as our new recycling system. I'll let you know how it works!

I love cheap and neat and these two bookshelf systems are definitely that!

4. GardeningHow pretty is this? I would love having a couple of these sitting around my house!

5. Baby
I literally gasped when Posh Little blogged about this cute little store called Lil' LJ. I am one who loves a baby with a cute little saying on their tummy and this store has some super fun stuff!

Last but not least, I wanted to share this Thirsties duo diaper with you again! As I mentioned earlier, this is one of the cloth diapers that my husband and I are seriously considering investing in. Well guess what I discovered this week. This company is based out of Canon City! Where in the world have I been? That's only an hour drive from us! We are super stoked about going up there to check them out in person!

I hope you enjoyed this week's Friday Finds! If you have some Friday Finds that you would like to share with me, feel free to leave me a comment! I am always up for suggestions! :D

I caved...

So do you remember last week's Friday Finds when I talked about The Vintage Pearl and the fantastic jewelery that she sells? Well guess what. She is giving away a free charm with every purchase today and I couldn't resist. I have been dying to make a necklace with Nick's and my initials. Well today was the day! I could no longer wait. :D Here is the necklace I chose.
Isn't it awesome? I put the "n" on the star and then choose the heart for my free charm and put my "s" on it.Now I just have to wait patiently until it arrives at my door step. Darn that waiting! :) Don't worry, I will be sure to take a picture of it when I have it in my hands!

*Stay tuned for this week's Friday Finds!*

Our Camera Sux!

Seriously. It's awful. It's the same one that I have had since high school. I tried to take some pictures with it today and they look pathetic. It is almost impossible to take a crisp picture with it. We had a good one but my husband sold it to his parents over Christmas break. Now we are stuck with my ancient one and I am really getting sick of it! I was hoping to share some pictures of the delicious meal that I cooked the other day but nope. No such luck. Sorry. I hate not posting my own pictures but what other choice do I have? Haha! The good news, he has one picked out. The bad news, it is a new model that won't be released until mid March. It's not exactly what I wanted.

I wanted this one....

but this one is not affordable right now.

So instead we are getting this one.

It's much closer to our price range (and cute too)!

Until then, here is the camera I am stuck with. It used to be great. That was until I had something better to compare it to. I am sure my parents will understand why I bash the camera they bought me. My mom DOES have the Nikon D90 (lucky)! :)

So anyway, that is my whining post for the evening. Sorry for not having any personal photos lately. It happens I guess.

TTC Update #3!

Good morning! Can you believe it is Monday already? YUCK! Anyway, I wanted to share my latest TTC vlog with you! This month is going to look different. We are going to try to give this entire journey to God from here on out. It is going to be difficult but we are trusting Him. We know He has a plan for us, we just don't know what that plan is yet. I hope that children are included in that plan but I know that's not my decision to make alone.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Aren't these fantastic? I'm thinking I might do these for my kids next year!

These little wrist bands are way too cute! What a fun craft they would be!

Check out these fun hand warmers! I wouldn't mind using them!

Oh my goodness! These just crack me up!

I made some of these for my kiddos this year (mine weren't near as cute)...

and I printed these for them to color with it!

Isn't this a fantastic idea? I wish I could come up with something this clever!

Doesn't this sweet puppy just melt your heart? I would totally buy this pattern!

This just blows me away! It's all paper. Now what woman WOULDN'T want this? I'm not a huge rose fan but if it's going to look this good forever, give it to me! :)

Introducing: Friday Finds!

Good evening everyone and Happy Friday! :) I wanted to start something new on my blog and hopefully I will be able to continue doing it! Anyway, as I am browsing the internet throughout the week I always see some fantastic things that I think are worth sharing but I never know how to go about doing that. Well today I decided that I will start a tradition of doing a "Friday Finds" on my blog. Since I am a school teacher and I don't normally have school on Fridays, it works out perfect for me to take the time and upload all of my fun finds with you! I hope that you enjoy these posts and if you ever find something worth sharing, send it my way and I will be sure to check it out! :)

Without further ado...this week's Friday Finds!

1. Jewelry: First of all, my friend Hillary has gotten me HOOKED on Etsy. Now I have never purchased anything from there, (I know, good self-control right? Haha!) but I always find something that I would LOVE to buy (Ok...I'll admit it...the hubby won't let me or I would!). Recently I have LOVED looking at the metal jewelry on there. There is some seriously amazing stuff! Check out this funky bird's nest! Isn't it awesome! MDsparks is one of my favorite jewelry sellers on Etsy. She sells this little number and...
this crazy cool necklace. These are just two of my favorites from her store!
Speaking of jewelry, if you have never checked out "The Vintage Pearl" then you MUST! She has some of the most amazing handmade metal jewelry I have ever seen! She just posted this bracelet today and I had to share it with you. *Sigh* Oh how I wish my husband checked the same blogs as me! :)

2. Crafts: So I mentioned yesterday that I love knitting. Well this cute little pattern was just posted today and she is having a 50% off sale for Valentine's this week! SCORE! I can't wait to try it out!
I also stumbled across this adorable little number earlier in the week. How fun are these blocks? Not only are they cute but they make a super cheap toy too! Yay for fun and frugal!
These also caught my eye. I found them on Etsy and am currently looking at them wondering if I could possibly make them myself. Hmm...it might take some thought but it's worth a try. If not, I can always buy one from KnitStorm! :)
And why did I not know about these AMAZINGLY AWESOME tissue paper pom-poms until this week? They seriously rock and don't look too difficult to make! I don't know what I would do with them yet but I am sure I could find some decorative use for them! :)
3. Food: One thing about me that I don't always admit to is the fact that I actually do not like cooking. Not at all. The only thing I do enjoy is making bread because my fantastic bread machine does all the work for me (more on that later)! Haha! However, I am never one to pass up a super fantastic recipe and this is one that caught my attention!

4. Storage/Organization: Since we moved into our house we have noticed that storage is pretty hard to come by. Don't get me wrong, we love our house, we just have a lot of stuff! :) One thing that we really need is storage in our loft. We converted the loft into an office/craft/sitting area but there is no place for storage and hardly any wall space due to the extreme vaulted ceilings. To solve our problem we have started looking at these from Wal-Mart.

I also stumbled across this great idea from Lindsey Ivory. Her and her husband modified the Elfa shelving system by laying plywood across some metal braces and she uses that as her work area. GENIUS! Nick and I are going to attempt to recreate a workspace similar to it so that my sewing machine has a place of it's own along with my HUGE rotary mat!

5. Home Decor: We have a vintage/antique theme in our kitchen and I am always on the lookout for things to add to my collection. Here are a few things that have caught my attention lately.

We have been looking all over for plates that match our kitchen and I think these just might work!

And check out these really cool antique utensils. Oh if I could only get my hands one some of these!
Well that's it for tonight! I am hoping to do a little post about some of my Valentine's finds on Sunday because I have lots and lots of really cool ideas! We will see what happens! :)

Let me know what you thought about my Friday Finds! If you have any ideas or suggestions, feel free to let me know! I'm just flying by the seat of my pants right now!
